On Friday, December 21st DRIVE had their holiday party. Students started 0ff the day being greeted with hot cocoa. Students baked cookies, played holiday games, read the Polar Express and watched the movie, made a sleigh out of candy, and wore their pajamas. The ASL class presented their interpretation of Silent Night to Jackie Evancho’s music video. Students enjoyed the day.
Thursday, November 8th at the auxiliary gym was the world premier of Curse of Ball Hall II. Several students attended the premier. There was a good turnout. The movie was about an hour and a half. Oxy said that the movie was “sick.” Erica stated that the movie was incredible. Eight DRIVE students were filmed as Zombies and were in one of the scenes. DRIVE Inclusion Specialist, Ben Ternosky, was also in the film.
DRIVE students had an awesome day this past Halloween. Several college students dressed up for the day. Costumes included; a Navy fighter pilot, a witch, a fox, a box of crayons, Flo from Progressive, a pepperoni pizza, and Sandra Dee. AVI Fresh, hosted a Costume Contest in the Cafeteria at lunch time. Jennie won the best female costume dressed a pepperoni pizza and Nate won best male costume as Fredrik Foxpaw the fox (Nathan’s own creation). Jennie and Nate each won $30. Each student that participated in the contest received coupon for a free quesadilla at the Terrace.
On Friday September 21st, several students took advantage of voter registration at Keuka College. In classes, teachers assisted students with filling out voter registration forms. If they wanted, students then brought the forms to the cafeteria where a table was set up for voter registration. Students will be learning about the different candidates in their classes so that when elections come around they can make an informed vote if they choose to vote.
2012 DRIVE Graduates Graduation Video
On Sunday May 27, 2012 seven DRIVE students graduated from the DRIVE Program at Keuka College. This year’s graduates were Maggie, Matthew, David, Helen, Nina, Michael and Jessica. Each student earned a degree of higher education. After the graduation we had a little party with cake, food and gifts. We wish these students best of luck in the future!!
